"Excellence and Innovation in Japanese Literary Studies in the Australian University Context"

UTAS Literature Workshop

5-7 September 2008

Updated on 4 September 2008

WHAT WILL WE DO?
Lectures will be presented in a mock-classroom setting where all participants sit as students and give feedback to the lecturers with comments and suggestions.

Our aim is to showcase a wide range of approaches one can take in “reading” cultural texts. The emphasis is on how such texts can be made relevant to students’ contemporary lives. The workshop is not exclusive, and its atmosphere will be a friendly one.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
We welcome both undergraduates, postgraduates and beyond, who are interested in Japanese literature, theatre, and pop-media. For seating availability please register at sals.admin@utas.edu.au

WHAT HAPPENS AFTERWARDS?
We are publishing a book, Texts in Japan and Japan in Texts (tentative title) which will provide unique and updated resources for both research and teaching.

VENUE AND ACCOMMODATION
The workshop will be held at Tasmaian School of Art, Hunter Street, Hobart City. click
